Nix revealed: “When I was about 7 years old is when I learned what it meant to have a personal relationship.

“When I was 7 we lived in Atlanta, I asked Jesus into my heart and you know from then on it’s been a relatively steady relationship and journey.”

Bo Nix on following God’s direction to guide his career

Growing up, Nix was a highly touted quarterback recruit, ranked as the 2nd best QB in the nation by ESPN and 1st by Rivals in 2019.

He chose to attend Auburn University, where he had an impressive freshman season, leading the Tigers to a 9-4 record.

However, Nix struggled with inconsistency over the next two seasons at Auburn and was benched during the 2021 season.

Seeking a fresh start, Nix transferred to the University of Oregon for his senior season in 2022.

Speaking to CBN, Nix explained how he trusted in God to guide his path when leaving Auburn.

Nix said: “I never felt anything but peace about my decision.

“I think He (God) placed it on my heart because He didn’t put anything else in the way and make my decision.

“He made all roads lead to Oregon and ever since I’ve been able to play free and have fun.”

Bo Nix on sharing faith with his teammates

During his time at both Auburn and Oregon, Nix was determined to share his faith with his teammates.

Nix told CBN: “Ultimately I believe in Matthew where it says ‘You are the light of the world’ and I think our main goal on Earth is to influence others and point them to the Lord.”

Oregon Ducks chaplain on Bo Nix’s Christian faith

Nix’s dedication to serving Jesus was evident for all to see, including Oregon Ducks chaplain Josh Bidwell.

Bidwell told CBN: “He stands firm in who he is in Christ.

“It’s not a battle for him to watch his language, it’s just part of who he is.

“It’s not a battle for him to be motivated by his walk with Christ, to honor God as it tells us in Colossians 3:23, he just does everything for God’s glory and he actually coaches guys sometimes character-wise on the field.

“He’s just a confident, quietly-string man of God who’s going to trust God’s lead wherever he goes.”

Bo Nix displaying his faith on the field

Nix’s faith isn’t something he limits to spreading off the field.

The young QB has become known for wearing bracelets while playing which shine a light on his love for God.

Two of his most prominent bracelets read: ‘In Jesus Name I Play’ and ‘Humble over Hype‘ – a brand dedicated to recognizing athletes beyond their athletic abilities.

The 24-year-old also draws a cross on his wrist before every game.

In a 2020 Instagram post, Nix revealed why he does it: “The cross I wear on my wrist symbolizes where I find my true joy.

“It doesn’t come from success on or off the field.

“It comes from the good news of Jesus Christ and actively pursuing a relationship with Him.

“He achieved the ultimate victory when He was crucified on the cross for the sins of every person on earth and then rose from the grave after three days.

“Because I have chosen to put my faith in Him, I have the opportunity to share in His victory with others and one day spend eternity with Him in heaven.”

Bo Nix’s dad sharing his faith

Bo Nix’s dad, Patrick Nix, was also a quarterback for the Auburn Tigers from 1992 to 1995.

After his playing career, Patrick Nix went into coaching and told Church Leaders: “As a coach, as well as a Christ-follower, I must be sure that all the players I come in contact with hear the gospel.”

Expanding on his desire to use his position as a coach to spread the gospel, Bo’s dad said: “The coaching profession has given me the opportunity to be a light of hope for some that may not have ever seen or even heard of the hope we have in Jesus Christ.

“I have the opportunity on a daily basis to show the love of Jesus by the way I love the kids that not only play for me but also walk the halls of my school.

“I have the opportunity to show the compassion of Jesus by the compassion I show to them.

“I have the opportunity to show the righteousness of God by the way I hold them accountable each day.

“For many of the kids a coach comes in contact with, we may be the only example of Jesus they see.

“It is an incredible opportunity, and the responsibility can be overwhelming without the courage, strength, and protection of the Holy Spirit.”

Bo Nix’s faith-fueled marriage with wife Izzy

Bo and Izzy got engaged while they were both at Auburn University.

Bo was the quarterback for the Auburn Tigers, while Izzy was a cheerleader for the team.

In July 2022, the couple got married in Birmingham, Alabama with the ceremony taking place at the Church of the Highlands.

Given the firm Christian faith of both Bo and Izzy, the wedding was a beautifully biblical dedication of their relationship to God.

The leader of their wedding ceremony opened the service with a reminder of the Christian meaning of marriage.

He proclaimed: “Bo and Izzy, in a day where the world pushes you towards selfishness and making this day all about you, you’ve chosen to make this day about Jesus.

“Before either of you arrived at this point, both of you allowed God to do a work in your lives through the saving grace of his son Jesus.

“It was the greatest act of unselfishness the world has ever seen.”

Many of Bo’s family and friends spoke at the wedding and talked of the couple’s unwavering dedication to their faith.

Izzy’s friend said: “Izzy is incredibly wise beyond her age.

“The holy spirit is so evidently within her and moves within her in such powerful ways.

“She is constantly pointing me and all others around her to Christ.”

Bo Nix’s church and favorite bible verses

Bo and Izzy have attended church at New Hope West in Eugene and watch services remotely of their home church, Church of the Highlands, in Alabama.

Two of Nix’s favorite verses are Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,” and John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.”

Nix told Oregon Live: “It’s like when you get knocked down or you get in a bad situation if something happens, it’s always encouraging,” Nix said.

“It goes back to, I’m not playing the game just because of football and for wins and losses and for all this fame or glory.

“It’s, God’s presented me with the opportunity, he’s given me a gift and I want to use it to influence other people.

“Sometimes with those verses, you get a platform and you get to share Jesus with people.”
